BIO / CV


Karla Guerrero (b. 1993, Mexico City) photographer, digital curator, and cultural manager. She holds an MFA in Social Development in artistic culture from the University of Malaga. Her photographic praxis started while gaining her diplomas in photography from Fundación Pedro Meyer and Academia de Artes Visuales. Since 2019 she is part of Artpil, profiles in Modern and Contemporary Art, France, and recently in the network of photographers, of the Platform of Contemporary Images (PICS) by Centro de la Imagen, Mexico.

Guerrero's work has been exhibited in Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Mexico, including international fairs such as Cosmos Arles Books, featured in platforms and magazines such as Lenscratch, Fraction Media, Ctype Magazine, Lensculture, and GUP Magazine. In 2018 her work was selected by Photometria Festival as one of the top 9 portfolios and also has obtained the Sony World Photography AwardPOY LatamFOAM Paul Huf Award nominee, and the Lucie Foundation Scholarship shortlist. 

In her new facet as cultural manager and digital curator, Guerrero has participated in an international scene with greater scope and representation of contemporary Latin American photography, thus counting on festivals, curating digital exhibitions, portfolio reviews, publications, and interviews. In 2019, she founded Femgrafía, a platform for dissemination and research on the photographic work of women in Latin America and Spain. She has recently joined the collaborative VADB network, a platform for Specialized Latin American Contemporary Art.


Artist Statement (brief)

My work is highly influenced by the philosophical discipline of Phenomenology in the behavior of the gaze, the interactions of oneself between objects, spatial explorations in experiences of transience and absence: memory, loss, and void.
